NAPSAWU DELIVERES PROGRESSIVE SOLIDARITY MESSAGE TO NAWUSHI DECRYING INTRANSIGENT PUBLIC SECTOR EMPLOYERS

NAPSAWU DELIVERS A PROGRESSIVE SOLIDARITY MESSAGE TO NAWUSHI ELECTIVE CONFERENCE

The National Public Service and Allied Workers Union (NAPSAWU) through its Organising Secretary Comrade Mduduzi Shabangu (Pictured above) delivered a strong solidarity message to delegates of the NAWUSHI's 1st quadrennial conference that  took place on the 24th as wee as 25th March 2022 at eSibayen Lodge in Matsapha.

In his address Comrade Mduduzi first praised the leadership of NAWUSHI for always demonstrating  progressive and decisive collaborative co-existence with NAPSAWU both at TUCOSWA and Public Service International(PSI) level. NAPSAWU, NAWUSHI and SWADNU are the current affiliates of the PSI in Eswatini.

Comrade Mduduzi's then went on to  highlight that there were similarities between the struggles facing NAWUSHI  as well as those facing NAPSAWU particularly because both unions organise in the public sector, where the intransigence of employers towards genuine worker demands for better pay and conditions of service in general, has grown exponentially. To further emphasise the point comrade Mduduzi then  highlighted that as NAPSAWU they were also  facing an uphill battle in terms of collective bargaining with their employer, the Government of Eswatini to the point that they felt that their work was no longer appreciated by the government as the employer because the government simply refuses to accede to demands such as the demand for a salary review.

Lastly, comrade Mduduzi warned NAWUSHI delegates against the growing tendency in the trade union movement of individuals who lose elections then approach the courts to challenge the outcomes of conferences and congresses. He further demonstrated that at NAPSAWU they have since spent over E100 000 defending against such individuals challenging the outcomes of their last congress. He added that trade unions must guard against keeping leaders for too long unnecessarily and saying , "Lapha kuma unions akube kuka phuzuphume".

He called for unity and the building of workers strength amongst workers at all times.
